Principal/Senior Diffusion Engineer (Diffusion)

About the role

Micron is hiring a Principal/Senior Diffusion Engineer for its Fab 10A site. The engineer drives process and equipment engineering excellence in the Diffusion area to achieve world-class performance in safety, quality, cost, output and technology enablement. The role works closely with Manufacturing, Process Integration, Yield Enhancement, MAE, central teams and equipment suppliers to improve equipment capability, manufacturing efficiency, productivity and cost effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Improve Diffusion process and equipment performance, including MA, utilization, throughput, WPD and RPT
• Lead technical investigations of equipment, process and yield excursions
• Support Max-Out, Productivity, Everest, WPD and cost reduction initiatives, and capacity planning and bottleneck reduction
• Partner with Manufacturing, PIE, Yield, MAE and global central teams, and give technical recommendations to leadership
• Work with equipment suppliers on hardware, software and productivity improvements, and benchmark industry best practices
• Use data analytics to support technology transfers, process conversions and new capabilities, and share knowledge and mentor junior engineers
• Leverage AI-enabled tools such as Microsoft Copilot and approved enterprise AI platforms, and partner with Digital Transformation and Manufacturing teams on AI-driven solutions for excursion detection, predictive maintenance and capacity optimization

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics or a related technical discipline
• Semiconductor manufacturing, process engineering or equipment engineering experience
• Preferred: Diffusion process or equipment engineering experience, and experience with productivity improvement programs, manufacturing optimization and capacity management
• Preferred: knowledge of statistical analysis, DOE, SPC and structured problem-solving methods, and experience with semiconductor equipment suppliers
