Process Control System Engineer

About the role

Micron is looking for a Process Control System (PCS) Engineer to start up, develop and optimize manufacturing processes that improve product quality and reliability. The role covers yield improvement, cost reduction, productivity gains, risk management and troubleshooting of manufacturing lines, and includes diagnosing assembly-process problems using FMEA, 8D, SPC/FDC and other methodologies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop smart manufacturing solutions aligned with Industry 4.0, covering scrap/excursion control, SPC, APC (run-to-run), FDC and process capability.
• Create process control models and strategies with process teams, and give technical advice on process control implementation.
• Analyze process data to find sources of variation and turn them into control solutions.
• Support the PDE Key Equipment Group (KEG) team with classification, characterization and data collection requirements, and set up data collection in the E3 environment.
• Define analysis requirements, limits and out-of-control action plans, and review best-known-material practices with the PCS team.
• Deliver training on control systems and related topics.

Required profile

• PhD, Master's or Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, statistics, mathematics or physics.
• Fundamental knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing and advanced process control.
• Strong analytical, logical and critical thinking skills, and effective communication across all levels.
• Project management skills, ability to multi-task and work in a multi-functional team.
• Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
• Internship or experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus; interest in and knowledge of the semiconductor industry and Micron is preferred.

Required skills

• Knowledge of sensors for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Python, R, SQL, Hadoop and/or web-based application development preferred.
• Familiarity with machine learning, data science and data analysis preferred.
• Ability to apply AI-enabled tools responsibly and effectively.
