Production Technical Operations Technician II

About the role

As a Technician II in Production Technical Operations, you will ensure the optimal performance, reliability, and availability of manufacturing equipment within Alcon’s secondary packaging department. You will work hands‑on to troubleshoot, maintain, calibrate, and repair complex equipment, supporting efficient and cost‑effective mass production.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑depth mechanical and electrical diagnostics on production equipment to identify root causes and restore optimal operation.
• Provide timely troubleshooting, maintenance, and engineering support to minimize downtime.
• Recommend and implement process or mechanical improvements to enhance equipment performance.
• Support engineering initiatives by supplying equipment insights, identifying performance gaps, and contributing to solutions that increase uptime, reduce defects, and improve safety.
• Participate in root‑cause analyses for non‑conformances, field actions, and customer‑reported issues, delivering technical findings and corrective actions.
• Assist in project execution for equipment upgrades, retrofits, and modernization, including mechanical changes, control software updates, and hardware modifications.
• Collaborate with engineering, vendors, and cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth implementation of improvements.

Required profile

• Minimum NITEC in Engineering.
• At least 3 years of experience in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
• Experience with process improvement in manufacturing.
• Strong technical problem‑solving skills; experience with automated pick‑and‑place environments is a plus.
