Project Engineer (Electrical)

About the role

A dynamic engineering team is seeking a capable and motivated Project Engineer (Electrical) to take ownership of electrical engineering projects from initial planning through to completion. The engineer ensures that all works are delivered safely, on time and to the required quality standards, offering a chance to broaden project management experience in a technically demanding environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and oversee electrical engineering projects across design, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning
• Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, method statements and risk assessments
• Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal stakeholders so project requirements are clearly understood and met
• Monitor progress against schedules and budgets, identifying and resolving issues proactively
• Conduct site inspections and attend project meetings to track milestones and ensure compliance with codes, standards and regulations
• Coordinate with procurement teams to source materials and equipment in line with project timelines
• Maintain project documentation such as progress reports, variation orders and as-built records
• Support commissioning and ensure a smooth handover to clients
• Uphold workplace health and safety standards on site

Required profile

• Recognised degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline
• Experience in electrical project engineering, ideally in construction, building services or infrastructure
• Solid understanding of electrical systems, local codes of practice and regulatory requirements
• Ability to manage project timelines, budgets and multiple stakeholders
• Good written and spoken English and willingness to travel to project sites

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and technical specifications
• MS Office; AutoCAD or project management software is advantageous
• Analytical, problem-solving skills with attention to detail
