Project Officer (Ultrafast Spectroscopy of Nanomaterials)

Join our team at the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The role focuses on ultrafast optical spectroscopy of nanomaterial semiconductors, supporting cutting‑edge research in photophysics and laser techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and set up time‑of‑flight measurement techniques for investigating slow light.
• Operate and maintain time‑resolved photoluminescence and transient absorption spectroscopy setups.
• Operate and maintain optical beamlines for home‑built micro‑transient absorption experiments.
• Conduct micro‑photoluminescence and micro‑transient absorption studies on semiconductor samples.
• Perform data analysis and interpretation of ultrafast spectroscopy experiments independently.
• Assist the principal investigator with writing research papers.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years research experience in ultrafast lasers and ultrafast laser spectroscopy of semiconductor materials.
• Minimum 3 years research experience in photophysics of semiconductor systems.
• Minimum 3 years research experience in operation of ultra‑high vacuum systems.
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Sciences or related field, with at least 1st Class/2nd Class Upper Honours.

• Time‑of‑flight measurement techniques.
• Time‑resolved photoluminescence (TRPL) and transient absorption spectroscopy.
• Optical beamline setup for micro‑transient absorption experiments.
• Micro‑photoluminescence and micro‑transient absorption spectroscopy on semiconductor samples.
• Data analysis and interpretation of ultrafast spectroscopy data.
• Synthesis of perovskite nanomaterials.
• Operation of ultra‑high vacuum femtosecond laser systems.
• Material characterization techniques (XRD, AFM, GIWAXS/GISAXS).
