QA Test Engineer - Payments & FX

About the role

Marex's QA Test Engineer (Payments & FX) is based in Singapore and sits within the Technology team responsible for the quality and reliability of Marex's payments and FX platforms in Asia Pacific. The role covers domestic and cross-border payment and FX workflows, combining manual/functional testing with test automation, with a strong focus on payment processing, SWIFT, ISO 20022 and AI-assisted test automation. It is an intermediate position requiring 3-5 years of QA/testing experience.

Key responsibilities

• Test end-to-end domestic and cross-border payments, including initiation, validation, routing, settlement, reconciliation, returns, rejects and exceptions.
• Validate SWIFT MT/MX and ISO 20022 messages, including formats, mappings, transformations and business rules.
• Test FX and foreign-currency payment workflows, including exchange rates, currency conversions, fees, value dates and settlement.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, exploratory, API and end-to-end testing.
• Develop test scenarios, test cases, test data and automated regression suites.
• Design and maintain automated tests for APIs, UI and backend services using Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Cucumber or similar.
• Leverage AI-assisted testing tools and AI agents for test generation, maintenance, failure analysis and defect triage, and explore agentic automation approaches.
• Perform REST API testing, SQL/database validation and backend service testing.
• Develop automation and utilities in Java, Python, JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild) and use AWS services such as S3, Lambda, DynamoDB and CloudWatch.
• Investigate defects across messages, APIs, logs and databases and work with engineering and business teams to resolve them.
• Comply with MAS regulatory requirements, the company's operational risk framework and the Code of Conduct, and report breaches and escalate risk events.

Required profile

• 3-5 years of QA/testing experience across manual and automated testing.
• Strong payments domain experience, especially cross-border/international and FX payments, with hands-on knowledge of the end-to-end payment lifecycle, SWIFT MT/MX and ISO 20022.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, collaborating with engineering and business teams.
• Good verbal and written communication, collaboration and analytical skills.

Required skills

• REST API testing, SQL and backend validation.
• Automation frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Cucumber or equivalent.
• Exposure to AI-assisted testing and agent-based automation tools.
• Programming in Java, Python, JavaScript or TypeScript.
• AWS and CI/CD (CodePipeline, CodeBuild, S3, CloudWatch).
• Jira, Azure DevOps or similar test/defect management tools.
