R&D Firmware Engineer

About the role

HP is hiring an R&D Firmware Engineer in Singapore. The role designs, develops, tests and maintains software applications that meet user needs and business requirements, working with cross-functional teams to deliver functional, user-friendly and reliable solutions. It involves testing, debugging and troubleshooting to keep applications defect-free and of high quality.

Key responsibilities

• Design enhancements, updates and programming changes for parts of end-user applications running on local, networked and Internet-based platforms.
• Analyse designs and determine the coding, programming and integration activities needed, based on the overall product architecture.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues reported by users or found during testing and usage.
• Write and run complete test plans, protocols and documentation for the assigned part of the application.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and quality assurance teams to implement new features.
• Allocate resources, plan projects and lead a team of software engineers and outsourced partners to deliver reliable, cost-effective solutions.
• Communicate with management and partners on design status, progress and issue resolution, and represent the engineering team on larger projects.
• Stay current with industry trends, technologies and best practices.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or commensurate experience and demonstrated competence.
• Typically 4-7 years of experience in applications engineering, programming or a related field, or an advanced degree with 3-5 years of experience.
• Preferred: certification in a programming language such as C++, Python, JavaScript or similar.
