R&D Internship – 3D GIS, Digital Twins and Mixed Reality

About the role

Esri, a global leader in geographic information system (GIS) technology, is looking for an R&D intern in Singapore. You will investigate emerging technologies and develop prototypes at the intersection of GIS, digital twins, urban planning, architecture and mixed reality, working with an international R&D team on web, desktop and mixed reality applications. This is a paid, full-time internship with hands-on experience, close mentorship and the chance to own a project from research through to a working prototype.

Key responsibilities

• Own and deliver an R&D project in areas such as 3D Web GIS, digital twins, spatial analysis, web applications, visualization or UI/UX design
• Research emerging technologies and evaluate their potential for real-world applications
• Propose solutions and define a project roadmap with your supervisor
• Design, build and iterate on a working prototype, sharing progress regularly
• Document your work and present results through presentations, demonstrations and a showcase video

Required profile

• Final-year undergraduate or postgraduate student in computer science, GIS, architecture, UI/UX design or a related field
• Existing work authorization in Singapore for the full internship period
• Interest in intuitive, user-centred experiences and the ability to work independently and collaboratively

Required skills

• Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript or modern web development frameworks
• Experience building web applications with modern web technologies
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Recommended: familiarity with ArcGIS or other geospatial platforms
