R&D Specialist – PhD in Chemistry

About the role

The company is seeking a senior Research & Development Specialist with a PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering to lead waste‑treatment and resource‑recovery projects across Singapore. You will work closely with sales, marketing and external partners to develop innovative, cost‑effective processes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate and optimise treatment and handling processes for existing, new and unknown waste streams.
• Design and implement resource‑recovery processes to enhance sustainability and value creation.
• Collaborate with sales and marketing to understand waste sources, identify opportunities and support commercialisation of recovery products.
• Identify, assess and implement new technologies, partnering with universities, research institutes and technology providers.
• Establish and continuously improve laboratory capabilities, including process development and analytical methods.
• Drive continuous improvement of operations through process optimisation and alternative treatment methods.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental and documentation standards.
• Support handling procedures for high‑risk, high‑value waste streams and contribute to new business development.

Required profile

• PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
• More than 5 years of experience in specialty chemical manufacturing, oil & gas, or water‑treatment industries.
• Result‑oriented with ability to achieve targets individually and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Process development and optimisation.
• Analytical laboratory methods.
• Knowledge of waste‑treatment and resource‑recovery technologies.

• Basic salary SGD 5,000 – 5,500 per month plus variable bonus.
