Relief Teacher - Prep School

About the role

Brighton College (Singapore), part of Cognita, is looking for an experienced relief teacher to stand in for the teaching of specific subjects, except those taught by senior school specialist teachers, in line with school policies and schemes of work. The role covers children aged 18 months to 12 years.

Key responsibilities

• Mark work promptly and give individual feedback and encouragement where possible, following the marking policy.
• Monitor and record assessment and reporting in line with school policy, and ensure the classroom is a stimulating learning environment.
• Keep registers and other paperwork up to date and accurate.
• Look after the behaviour and discipline of children in line with the school's behaviour policy.
• Care for, secure and maintain classroom resources and equipment, and act as a role model in speech, dress and behaviour.
• Help with lunch supervision and monitor lunchtime behaviour.
• Liaise with the Deputy Head (Academic/Pastoral) and other staff about children of concern.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience covering or teaching in an independent school setting for children aged 18 months to 12 years.
• Relevant teaching certification recognised internationally (e.g. QTS, PGCE / i-PGCE).
• Subject specialisation across key stages.
• Comfortable receiving calls in the morning when required.
• Adaptable, proactive and passionate about teaching children across a wide age range.
