Research Assistant, Digital Health - Full-Stack Developer

About the role

The Dementia Research Centre (Singapore) (DRCS) at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) is looking for a motivated Research Assistant to build digital solutions for cognitive and mental healthcare. The Centre studies Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia and related conditions through neuropsychology, neuroimaging and biomarkers, and uses digital platforms and artificial intelligence in translational research.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain web and mobile applications supporting digital health and cognitive healthcare initiatives.
• Build responsive front-end interfaces with React and React Native, and backend services, APIs and application logic with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Troubleshoot, debug and optimise application performance, and take part in testing, deployment and release.
• Deploy, manage and maintain cloud applications on AWS, and support monitoring, performance tuning, security and reliability.
• Assist with development workflows, version control, deployment pipelines and system documentation.
• Work with researchers, clinicians, UI/UX designers and other developers to turn research needs into digital solutions, including cognitive assessment tools and healthcare apps.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline; diploma holders with relevant industry experience are also encouraged to apply.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, good verbal and written communication, and ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary team.
• Preferred: experience in digital product development, hackathons, cloud architecture, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, UI/UX, healthcare or research environments, and integrating analytics, AI or machine learning into applications.

Required skills

• Full-stack application development with JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, React and React Native.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud services and deployment environments.
• Experience building responsive, mobile-compatible web applications.
• Active GitHub portfolio or examples of deployed applications preferred.
