Research Assistant (Food and Agrotech)

About the role

The School of Applied Science at Republic Polytechnic is looking for a Research Assistant to support food and agrotech research projects. The successful candidate will be employed on a contract basis.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct plant cultivation trials to assess plant growth performance.
• Carry out extraction and bioactivity assays on plant samples.
• Collect, analyse, interpret and present research data.
• Assist in preparing technical reports, presentations and project documentation.
• Support procurement, including sourcing materials, liaising with vendors and raising purchase requests.
• Work closely with project leaders and team members to achieve project deliverables.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Food Science, Biological Sciences, Agricultural Science, Agrotechnology or a related discipline.
• Familiarity with plant cultivation, growth trials and chemical laboratory analysis.
• Knowledge of experimental design, data analysis and interpretation of research findings.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Self-motivated, meticulous and willing to learn.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general IT applications.
