Research Assistant – Psychology/Education (24‑month contract)

About the role

The School of Social Sciences at Nanyang Technological University seeks a Research Assistant to support a Ministry of Education‑funded longitudinal study (PATHS) that follows 500‑600 Primary 1 learners across Singapore. This 24‑month fixed‑term role involves hands‑on data collection in schools and collaboration with teachers, parents, and the principal investigator.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with participating primary schools and coordinate daily research activities.
• Administer psycho‑educational assessments and experimental tasks individually with students.
• Distribute, collect, and track questionnaires from parents and teachers.
• Maintain research records, assist with data entry, cleaning, and quality checks.
• Support ethics documentation, literature searches, and preparation of reports and stakeholder materials.
• Train and supervise part‑time student assistants during data collection.
• Perform administrative and procurement tasks as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, Child Development, Sociology or a related field.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with excellent written and spoken English.
• Well‑organized, self‑motivated, able to meet deadlines and travel to school sites.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
