Research Associate (1 Year Contract)

About the role

The Singapore University of Social Sciences is seeking a full-time Research Associate for a one-year contract within its University Research Office. The post supports a multi-year, multi-country research study on the state of families in ASEAN. The successful candidate is encouraged to co-publish one journal article with the principal investigator or co-investigators during the contract.

Key responsibilities

• Work with the research fellow to manage data collection, develop statistical analysis plans and carry out the analysis.
• Contribute to research protocols and ethics applications.
• Help publish in peer-reviewed journals as lead or contributing author.
• Support the drafting of research reports and prepare presentations for meetings and conferences.
• Liaise with researchers from collaborating institutes and agencies locally and regionally.
• Co-organise conferences, symposia and workshops.
• Handle project and other administrative work.

Required profile

• Completed academic degree (Master's or equivalent) in a relevant social science discipline; candidates with a data science or social science background are also considered.
• Strong understanding of the research topic and related issues.
• Familiarity with the socioeconomic situation of ASEAN and Asia.
• Ability to commit to a year of service.

Required skills

• Proficiency in STATA, R, SPSS or SAS.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Research skills, budgeting, reporting and administrative tasks.
• Excellent communication, organisational and analytical skills.
