Research Associate – Polymer Chemistry

About the role

The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at NTU seeks a Research Associate to strengthen its polymer chemistry program. The role focuses on synthesising polymers and developing porous polymer materials for ion adsorption.

Key responsibilities

• Design, synthesize and optimise polymers using organocatalysed controlled radical polymerisation.
• Create porous polymer materials and evaluate their ion‑adsorption performance.
• Conduct laboratory experiments, including purification and characterisation with NMR, GPC and electron microscopy.
• Troubleshoot synthetic routes and optimise procedures.
• Analyse experimental data, maintain detailed records and contribute to reports and manuscript preparation.

Required profile

• MSc in Chemistry or a closely related field.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Initiative and a proactive approach to problem solving.

Required skills
