Research Engineer/Fellow (UX) – Immersive Technologies

About the role

The Singapore Institute of Technology seeks a Research Engineer/Fellow with strong expertise in Human-Computer Interaction and social science methods to lead user research on harmful content in virtual worlds as part of a national Online Trust and Safety initiative.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the research project with the PI, Co‑PI and team to meet all deliverables.
• Conduct literature reviews, design and execute surveys and interviews, and perform statistical and thematic analysis.
• Publish high‑quality papers and present findings at international conferences.
• Develop policy recommendations based on research outcomes.

Required profile

• Relevant competence in HCI, communication, social science or psychology.
• Master’s or Ph.D. in HCI, Psychology, Communications, Information Science or related field (advantageous).
• Proven ability to manage end‑to‑end research projects and publish results.
• Experience with public‑policy research or adolescent studies is a plus.

Required skills

• Mixed‑methods research (qualitative & quantitative) including systematic literature reviews, survey design, semi‑structured interviews, experimental study design.
• Statistical analysis software such as SPSS, SAS or R.
• Qualitative analysis tools like NVivo or Atlas.ti.
