Research Fellow – AI for Education

About the role

The Learning Sciences and Assessment department at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, seeks a Research Fellow to advance two AI‑driven education projects. This is a one‑year fixed‑term appointment with a possible renewal based on performance.

Key responsibilities

• Refine and fine‑tune large language models to support students' computational thinking and interdisciplinary learning.
• Design, implement, and coordinate large‑scale data collection on human‑AI collaboration, creativity, decision‑making, and agency.
• Analyse quantitative and qualitative data, produce high‑impact journal articles and conference presentations.
• Collaborate closely with learning scientists, AI experts, and instructors.
• Independently design experiments related to the project themes.

Required profile

• PhD in learning sciences, educational technology, HCI, AI, or a related field.
• Proven research track record with publications in reputable education, AI, or HCI venues.
• Experience in educational data mining and handling large datasets.
• Strong analytical, proactive, and teamwork orientation.
