Research Fellow – Early Warning System

About the role

The Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Health (CCEH) at NTU is seeking a Research Fellow to advance early warning systems for climate‑related health hazards. You will work within the Climate and AI team to integrate climate, air quality, and health data, applying AI and statistical methods to improve risk prediction across Singapore and Southeast Asia.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate predictive models for extreme heat, humid heat stress, air‑pollution episodes, transboundary haze, and other climate‑sensitive hazards.
• Analyse and integrate multi‑source climate, environmental, health, and socioeconomic datasets.
• Apply advanced statistical, spatiotemporal, and AI techniques to build hazard‑forecasting and health‑risk frameworks.
• Produce scientific publications, technical reports, and decision‑support tools.
• Collaborate with research partners, policymakers, and stakeholders to strengthen early‑warning capabilities and climate‑adaptation planning.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in atmospheric science, climate science, environmental health, computer science, data science, public health, epidemiology, geography, or a related discipline.
• Strong research experience in AI, machine learning, deep learning, environmental modelling, climate‑health research, or early warning systems.
• Excellent written communication skills and a proven record of scientific publishing.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in interdisciplinary, multi‑institutional teams.
