Research Fellow – Energy Storage for Singapore Grid

About the role

The Meng Research Group at NTU’s School of Materials Science and Engineering seeks a Research Fellow to investigate sodium‑ion batteries for grid ancillary services in Singapore, aiming toward a virtual power plant concept.

Key responsibilities

• Support development and operation of deployable battery energy storage systems for Singapore’s National Electricity Market ancillary services.
• Conduct automated materials synthesis, characterization, electrochemical testing, and data analysis.
• Participate in project planning, data collection, and generation of reproducible research outcomes.
• Prepare manuscripts for high‑impact journals and contribute to grant proposals and research reports.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Research experience in battery materials, electrochemistry, or materials synthesis.
• Demonstrated scientific productivity through peer‑reviewed publications.
• Strong hands‑on experimental and problem‑solving skills.
