Research Fellow – High Frequency Active Circuit Design

About the role

The Centre for Integrated Circuits and Systems at Nanyang Technological University is seeking a Research Fellow to support a project on Terahertz transmitter and receiver antennas for wireless communications. The role focuses on on‑chip hybrid electronic and photonic transceiver design for high‑data‑rate sub‑THz wireless links.

Key responsibilities

• Design and characterize sub‑THz electronic circuits such as oscillators and mixers using CMOS/SiGe technologies.
• Collaborate closely with the photonics team to integrate photonic devices with electronic circuits.
• Perform RF measurements and post‑fabrication testing of active ICs and antenna arrays.
• Contribute to the development of phased‑array and on‑chip antenna systems.

Required profile

• PhD in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a closely related field.
• Strong background in RFIC component design; experience with mmWave circuits is advantageous.
• Proven ability to work in multidisciplinary research groups and manage post‑fabrication measurements.

Required skills

• RFIC design for high‑frequency applications.
• mmWave circuit design.
• Proficiency with EDA tools such as Cadence and ADS.
• Experience using EM simulation tools like HFSS and CST.
• RF characterization and measurement techniques.
• Active IC design for phased‑array and on‑chip antennas.
• Knowledge of CMOS and SiGe technologies for sub‑THz circuits.
