Research Fellow – Learning Sciences & Assessment

About the role

The National Institute of Education (NIE) at NTU is hiring a Research Fellow on a five‑month fixed‑term contract within the Learning Sciences & Assessment Department. The Fellow will work on two Ministry of Education funded projects: enhancing interdisciplinary learning with large‑language‑model‑empowered analytics and building an augmented‑reality ecosystem for schools.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and evaluate experiments that refine LLMs to support interdisciplinary learning competencies.
• Handle and coordinate large‑scale data collection, cleaning, and analysis for both projects.
• Collaborate with learning scientists, AI experts and instructors to integrate findings into educational tools.
• Publish results in high‑impact journals and present at international conferences.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the Principal Investigators.

Required profile

• PhD in Learning Sciences, Educational Technology, HCI, Information Technology, AI or a related field.
• Proven experience in educational data mining, AI for education and handling large data volumes.
• Hands‑on experience with large language models, including programming, fine‑tuning, evaluation and benchmarking.
• Strong quantitative research skills, statistical analysis and computational techniques.
• Track record of publications in reputable Education, AI or HCI venues.
