Research Fellow – Materials and Artificial Intelligence

About the role

The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at NTU seeks a highly motivated Research Fellow to reverse‑engineer microstructured composite materials that combine novel structural and functional properties. The role blends experimental work with advanced artificial intelligence techniques to accelerate materials discovery.

Key responsibilities

• Design and conduct experiments to fabricate and test composite materials.
• Develop and run simulation models that feed machine‑learning algorithms.
• Present research findings regularly to the research group and at international conferences.
• Manage laboratory resources and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams across the school.

Required profile

• PhD in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated research record with publications in high‑impact journals.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and organise research activities efficiently.
