Research Fellow – Mathematical Foundations of AI

About the role

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at NTU Singapore seeks a Research Fellow to advance the mathematical foundations of artificial intelligence. The position is funded by an MOE grant on infinite‑dimensional generative models and may last up to three years, subject to funding.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct original research in scientific computing and machine learning.
• Write research papers, proposals, and contribute to grant applications.
• Assist in teaching activities and mentor graduate students.
• Collaborate with group members, including PhD and exchange students, to transfer expertise.

Required profile

• PhD in Mathematics or a closely related field, with a focus on numerical analysis or machine learning.
• Demonstrated research track record and strong publication record.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C, C++, Fortran, and Python.
• Experience with approximation of neural networks, Langevin/Monte‑Carlo sampling, interacting particle systems, operator learning, or inverse/scattering regularity theory.
