Research Fellow (Probabilistic Machine Learning, Causal Discovery, GenAI)

About the role

NTU Singapore's College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS) is recruiting a Research Fellow through Dr Yingzhen Li's research group. The fellowship focuses on probabilistic machine learning, causal discovery and generative AI, with emphasis on designing and implementing new architectures for latent dynamic modelling that identify latent dynamical systems from observation data with both causal identification and statistical estimation guarantees. The role also covers emerging research directions, synthesis of technical ideas and engagement with GenAI industry and open-source communities.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out research in AI/ML, especially probabilistic ML and scalable sequence network architectures.
• Produce academic publications such as research papers and patent applications.
• Contribute to annual report writing and present findings.
• Collaborate with faculty, research staff and students on joint robotics and AI projects and support supervision of graduate students.
• Engage with industry or academic partners when needed to explore collaborations and contribute to project deliverables.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
• In-depth knowledge of the project domain and demonstrated ability to conduct innovative research.
• Ability to formulate hypotheses, design experiments and implement new experimental methods.
• High-level expertise in the required experiment or modelling methods.
• Willingness to work some flexible hours; only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
