Research Fellow (Quantum Circuits)

About the role

The Nanyang Quantum Solutions team at NTU Singapore, led by Prof. Marek Gluza, is looking for a Research Fellow to tailor quantum circuits using geometrically motivated approaches that prepare cold quantum many-body states with few operations, so that quantum computer prototypes can run them. This is a postdoctoral position requiring a PhD, and the research group is being formed.

Key responsibilities

• Write Python or Julia code to obtain actual gate counts in Qrisp after optimization, improving beyond analytical upper bounds and bringing resource estimates to the hardware level.
• Validate the feasibility of low-energy state preparation for 2D models on commercial hardware such as Quantinuum Helios or IBM Heron, and liaise with providers using neutral atoms.
• Run quantum circuits on quantum hardware, drawing on experience deploying the full quantum computing pipeline, from theory to supporting junior peers and supervising research assistants in data analysis.
• Apply state preparation algorithms to FeMoCo molecules and extract physical properties such as those contained in 1-body reduced density matrices.

Required profile

• PhD in mathematics, physics, computer science or a related field.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience in a similar role or hands-on experience running quantum circuits on quantum hardware.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to mentor junior and peer researchers, work independently, meet strict deadlines and manage time meticulously.

Required skills

• Familiarity with standard quantum computing SDKs.
• Programming proficiency and strong numerical and analytical skills.
