Research Fellow – Reinforcement Learning for LLM Agents

About the role

The Nanyang Technological University (NTU) College of Computing and Data Science seeks a motivated Research Fellow to advance reinforcement learning (RL) techniques for large language model (LLM) agents. This role combines cutting‑edge AI research with mentorship of students in a vibrant, interdisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct original research on RL training methods for LLM agents.
• Prepare and submit papers to top conferences.
• Co‑supervise undergraduate and graduate students.
• Support teaching activities, including course preparation and student guidance.
• Assist in drafting research grant proposals.
• Oversee project progress and report outcomes.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or a closely related field.
• Independent, highly analytical, proactive, and a strong team player.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to formulate hypotheses, design experiments, and produce innovative research.
• Willingness to incorporate novel ideas and collaborate across disciplines.
