Research Fellow – Systems Integration and Prototyping

About the role

The Air Traffic Management Research Institute at Nanyang Technological University seeks a Research Fellow to lead systems integration and prototyping activities for advanced air traffic management solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and integrate software components, algorithms, data interfaces and decision‑support tools into functional ATM prototypes.
• Maintain system architectures, integration frameworks and ensure interoperability across research components and simulation platforms.
• Conduct testing, verification and validation of prototypes in realistic ATM scenarios.
• Prepare technical reports, research papers and project documentation, and contribute to proposals and demonstrations.

Required profile

• PhD in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Air Traffic Management or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of research experience in systems integration, software development or prototyping, preferably in aviation or complex transport domains.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.

Required skills

• Programming in Python, C++ and/or Java.
• API and data‑interface development.
• Experience with software version control and collaborative development practices.
• Familiarity with system testing, verification and validation processes.
