Research Intern – Strategy & Research (Part‑Time)

About the role

Samaritans of Singapore (SOS) is seeking a part‑time Research Intern to join the Strategy and Research department. You will support ongoing projects on suicide prevention, mental health, and crisis intervention, gaining hands‑on experience in social‑science research while contributing to life‑saving initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct literature reviews on suicide prevention, mental health, and crisis intervention topics.
• Collect, clean, and organise quantitative and qualitative data for a youth‑caregiver suicidality study.
• Participate in team meetings, contribute to reports, presentations, and research summaries.
• Draft internal documents such as meeting notes, SOPs, research proposals, and recommendations.
• Maintain project documentation and departmental resources.
• Coordinate communications with internal and external stakeholders.
• Support ad‑hoc projects and operational needs within the department.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in psychology, public health, social work, sociology, or a related field.
• Strong academic background in quantitative or qualitative research methods.
• Preferably holds a CITI certificate or equivalent ethics training.
• Passionate about mental‑health advocacy and suicide prevention.
• Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Sensitivity to mental‑health, suicide, and trauma issues.

Required skills

• Experience conducting literature reviews.
• Data collection and cleaning (quantitative and qualitative).
• Basic statistical analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
