Research Officer - Ageing and Gerontology Project

About the role

Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) is seeking a capable and self-driven Research Officer to support and lead components of a key research project focused on ageing, gerontology and community innovations. The position requires prior experience in academic or applied research, together with project coordination and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support research design, ethics submissions, data collection tools and fieldwork logistics.
• Carry out qualitative and/or quantitative data collection and analysis, such as interviews, surveys and focus groups.
• Synthesise findings into academic reports, publications, toolkits and stakeholder presentations.
• Monitor project deliverables, track progress against timelines and budget, and ensure research quality.
• Collaborate with academic team members, industry partners and community organisations.
• Organise and support workshops, training sessions and public engagement activities.
• Guide junior staff or interns involved in the project.
• Maintain thorough research documentation and comply with data protection and ethics standards.

Required profile

• Master's degree (or equivalent research experience) in gerontology, public health, social sciences, psychology or a related discipline.
• At least 3-5 years of experience managing or supporting research projects, particularly in healthcare, ageing or community development.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage complex tasks under tight deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication, including experience preparing reports, publications or grant submissions.
• Experience conducting ethnographic studies.
• Familiarity with IRB procedures and applied research ethics is preferred.
