Research Scientist - Intelligent Agents for Data Center Operations

About the role

NTU is seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to pioneer the next generation of intelligent agents for data center operations. The work sits at the intersection of Large Language Models (LLMs), digital twins and real-time systems, aiming to automate complex decisions and improve operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Spearhead research on novel agent architectures, including tool-use methodologies, advanced planning algorithms and multi-agent collaboration for simulation-based optimization.
• Design and conceptualize new frameworks for autonomous agentic systems and LLM-powered copilots tailored to critical data center applications.
• Stay at the forefront of AI research in LLMs, reinforcement learning and agentic systems, and guide junior researchers and engineers.
• Publish research findings in top-tier conferences and journals and present work at academic and industry events.
• Work closely with a cross-functional team of engineers and domain experts to turn research concepts into solutions and guide their implementation.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
• A strong research background and publication record in areas such as LLMs, agentic AI, reinforcement learning or multi-agent systems.
• Demonstrated ability to formulate research problems, design experiments and analyze results rigorously.
• For Senior Research Fellow: several years of post-doctoral experience, a proven track record of leading research projects and a distinguished publication history.

Required skills

• Deep theoretical and practical understanding of state-of-the-art AI models and frameworks such as Transformers, LangChain and PyTorch.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with relevant ML/LLM libraries.
