Senior Backend & Test Automation Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Software Engineer to join our Back Office Development Team. The role focuses on building high‑performance backend services and test‑automation solutions for an Automatic Fare Collection platform.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse business and system requirements and translate them into technical designs.
• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain enterprise backend applications and RESTful APIs.
• Implement database solutions using Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL or IBM DB2 and integrate messaging systems such as JMS, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• Create automated functional, API, integration, regression and performance tests using Robot Framework and JMeter.
• Perform performance and load testing, troubleshoot issues, and provide production support.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, Git and Docker, applying DevSecOps practices.
• Document SDLC artefacts, including requirements, design specs, test plans and deployment guides.
• Contribute to micro‑services, cloud migration and continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging AI‑assisted tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in enterprise backend development or test automation.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with architects, QA, DevOps, project managers and vendors.

Required skills

• Java/JEE, Spring, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, JDBC, SQL.
• Relational databases: Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, IBM DB2.
• Messaging: JMS, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, Kafka.
• Test automation tools: Robot Framework, JMeter.
• Version control and CI/CD: Git, Jenkins, Docker.
• DevSecOps/SAST tools, Linux/UNIX and Windows environments.
• Web technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript, Angular or React.
