Senior Chartering Executive

About the role

Blue Water Shipping is looking for an experienced and commercially driven Senior Chartering Executive to join its Chartering department in Singapore. You will support global project managers by sourcing and securing vessel solutions for complex project cargo, break‑bulk, heavy‑lift and out‑of‑gauge shipments originating from the APAC region.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare budgetary quotations, RFQs, tenders and vessel sourcing proposals for APAC‑originating projects.
• Gather and verify technical and commercial information such as transport specifications, cargo drawings and schedules.
• Develop and maintain relationships with MPP, bulk, heavy‑deck and semi‑sub carriers worldwide.
• Evaluate vessel alternatives based on cargo requirements, routing, feasibility, cost and operational risk.
• Negotiate contractual and commercial terms with carriers under supervision.
• Monitor carrier performance and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
• Stay current on charter parties (Gencon, Conline, Havyliftvoy) and vessel types.
• Analyse market trends to identify commercial opportunities and new carrier partnerships.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of chartering experience, preferably with international carriers or freight forwarders.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to analyse freight markets.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of chartering processes and vessel operations.
• Familiarity with major charter parties (e.g., Gencon, Conline, Havyliftvoy).
• Understanding of vessel types such as MPP, bulk carriers, heavy‑deck carriers and semi‑submersibles.
