Senior Data Scientist - AI & GenAI

About the role

Manulife Singapore is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join its Singapore AI team and drive the design, delivery and advancement of AI and GenAI solutions across the organization. As the AI Product Owner for business-domain AI products, you will partner with business leaders and technology teams to turn business challenges into scalable AI solutions and measurable outcomes, and act as a technical leader and mentor within the team.

Key responsibilities

• Define domain-level AI strategy and product roadmaps, and translate business challenges into practical AI solutions with user journeys, approaches, target states and success metrics
• Act as AI Product Owner and lead end-to-end delivery, managing a delivery squad of Data Scientists, AI Engineers and AI Architects
• Rapidly prototype, test and iterate AI solutions with business users, and monitor adoption, performance and value impact
• Design, develop and optimize AI and GenAI solutions, including supervised and unsupervised models, statistical analysis, LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, model orchestration and guardrails
• Drive global AI capability advancement through experimentation and evaluation of emerging techniques
• Help productionize AI solutions with AI Engineers, AI Architects and Data Engineers, and establish modelling standards, governance and reusable AI assets

Required profile

• 6-8 years of experience in AI, Machine Learning and Advanced Analytics, preferably in consulting or financial services
• Advanced degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or a related quantitative discipline
• Proven track record leading end-to-end AI solution delivery and cross-functional AI initiatives
• Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills

Required skills

• Hands-on expertise in AI and GenAI techniques, including agentic workflows, orchestration and AI platform architectures
• Proficiency in a common programming language such as Python or Java
• Experience with cloud and big data platforms such as Azure, Databricks, Spark and Hadoop
