Senior Engineer, CMP Process Development (Advanced Node)

About the role

Micron's NAND Process Development (PD) Singapore group is looking for a Senior Process Development Engineer to join its Advanced Node team. You will support technology node deployment, process margin improvement and extended engagement with manufacturing on upcoming nodes. The role focuses on developing and optimizing CMP processes to improve product quality and reliability for Micron's next-generation memory parts.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimize CMP processes, focusing on process margins needed to meet the mature yield goal for 3D NAND parts
• Carry out fundamental research, consumables development and hardware evaluation, and test processes for novel applications
• Initiate and manage experiments to widen process margins and evaluate manufacturability of next-node solutions
• Collaborate with vendors to develop processes that meet integration requirements for current and next-generation 3D NAND nodes
• Incorporate best-known manufacturing methods into early development of upcoming nodes
• Design and implement advanced process monitoring and control methodologies
• Provide a strategic roadmap for N+, N++ and future NAND nodes and act as a technical advisor on process, procedure and equipment improvements
• Lead complex, multi-functional projects and advise management on major technical issues
• Mentor new hires and less experienced colleagues, and engage with procurement and operations teams locally and globally
• Lead quality-focused, process/yield and cost/productivity improvement meetings
• Integrate AI-assisted tools into daily work and share AI-enabled improvements

Required profile

• PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or Physics
• At least 1 year of relevant experience in the semiconductor industry with a background in CMP in 300mm wafer fabrication
• Excellent oral and written communication, strong collaboration skills, self-driven and able to manage multiple projects
• Recognized as a mentor, team player and technical expert

Required skills

• Hands-on experience operating CMP equipment such as AMAT LKP, EBARA-300X and next-generation CMP equipment
• Optical metrology, profilometry, polishing slurries, conditioners and polishing pads
• Dielectric and metal CMP process development on 3D NAND or other memory technology
• Understanding of integration and structural impacts of film deposition and upstream/downstream processes
• Highly desirable: knowledge of memory processing flows for planar and vertical NAND, and interest in data science, modelling and AI adoption
