Senior Engineer, Real-Time Defect Analysis (RDA), Equipment Development

About the role

Micron is hiring a Real-Time Defect Analysis (RDA) Technology Development Engineer to join its Fab 10N/X site. The goal is to accelerate learning and technology transfer in Technology Development by applying defect detection equipment and processes to find and fix process issues. You will work with engineers in process integration, process development, data science and yield analysis, and partner with Research and Development and High Volume Manufacturing teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide manual cuts and build skills for future automated FIB cuts
• Set up equipment, monitor stability, improve capability and liaise with vendors on advanced functionality
• Write or modify equipment recipes for the RDA area
• Perform basic and advanced recovery of down tools for assigned workstations
• Drive software upgrades and improvements with internal and external vendors
• Monitor tool qualification SPC charts, initiate tool repairs and adjust limits as needed
• Use scripting, coding or programming to monitor inspection data performance
• Analyze tool and process data to suggest performance improvements
• Escalate application issues with vendors and work with Equipment Owners on long-term solutions

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering or a related field
• More than 5 years of semiconductor manufacturing experience in RDA/inspection recipe setup for defect analysis
• Proven experience training and mentoring engineers and technicians
• Experience working with vendors on FIB/SEM equipment setup, troubleshooting and upgrades (more than 3 years)

Required skills

• Focused Ion Beam (FIB) operations, including advanced cross-sectioning, milling optimization and defect characterization
• SEM imaging and interpretation for systematic and random defect identification
• Strong data analysis and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication and project management skills
