Senior Legal Counsel – Fintech (APAC)

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Legal Counsel to lead the legal function for a fast‑growing fintech platform across the Asia‑Pacific region. This strategic position works closely with senior leadership to support regional expansion, product innovation, and regulatory engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the principal legal advisor to senior management and regional leadership teams.
• Lead and manage the legal function across multiple APAC jurisdictions.
• Provide commercially pragmatic advice to enable business growth, strategic partnerships, and market entry.
• Develop and oversee legal strategy, risk‑management frameworks, and compliance programs.
• Coordinate external counsel and manage cross‑border regulatory matters.
• Advise on licensing, approvals, governance, and ongoing compliance for payments, digital banking, lending, and fintech regulations.
• Partner with compliance and risk teams on audits, investigations, and regulator engagements.
• Negotiate and review complex commercial, technology, financing, and customer‑facing agreements.
• Support corporate structuring, fundraising, joint ventures, and dispute resolution.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer admitted in a common‑law jurisdiction (preferred).
• 12–15 years of post‑qualification experience.
• Strong financial regulatory background in fintech, payments, digital banking, or consumer finance.
• Experience in both top‑tier private practice and in‑house legal roles.
