Senior Materials Scientist/Engineer

About the role

Nexascan is seeking a Senior Materials Scientist/Engineer to lead research and development of advanced non‑destructive testing solutions. You will bridge theoretical materials science with practical product implementation, focusing on finite‑element analysis and structural mapping to ensure high‑precision performance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform FEM analysis and structural mapping to evaluate material behavior and improve product performance.
• Lead end‑to‑end R&D projects, from concept through implementation.
• Collaborate with optical and software engineering teams to integrate material innovations into products.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
• Mentor junior scientists and promote technical excellence within the team.
• Continuously monitor advancements in materials science and incorporate relevant technologies.

Required profile

• PhD, Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Physics or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in numerical analysis and finite element methods.
• Strong background in multi‑physics simulation (vibration, acoustics, structural mechanics) and both linear and non‑linear dynamics, including transient analysis.
• Familiarity with ASME BPVC Section VIII or API 579 is a strong advantage.

Required skills

• Finite Element Method (FEM) and numerical analysis.
• Multi‑physics simulation tools: ANSYS Mechanical, COMSOL Multiphysics, Abaqus.
• Experience with open‑source solvers such as CalculiX, Code_Aster, or FEniCS.
• Strong Python programming for data science and solver integration.
• Knowledge of linear and non‑linear dynamics, transient analysis.
