Senior Site Reliability (DevOps) Engineer

About the role

Rakuten Asia Pte. Ltd., the regional headquarters for Asia based in Singapore's Central Business District, is hiring a Senior Site Reliability (DevOps) Engineer for its Marketing Cloud Platform Department (MCPD). The role drives operational excellence through observability, incident management and automation, bridging engineering and operations to build and maintain highly available systems serving millions of customers.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive SRE strategy, including SLO/SLI frameworks, error budgets and reliability targets aligned with business objectives.
• Establish and improve incident management processes, including on-call rotations, escalation procedures and blameless post-mortems to reduce MTTR.
• Work with development teams to embed reliability practices such as design reviews, chaos engineering and production readiness reviews.
• Design and implement observability solutions covering monitoring, logging, tracing and alerting.
• Drive automation to reduce toil, improve deployment reliability and enable self-service for engineering teams.
• Partner with Architecture and Platform teams so infrastructure supports scalability, fault tolerance and cost optimization.
• Manage capacity planning and performance optimization for high-volume marketing platforms and real-time personalization.
• Report reliability metrics, incident trends and operational health to leadership.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps or site reliability engineering, with at least 3 years in a people management role.
• Proven track record of building and leading high-performing SRE or platform engineering teams in a distributed, multi-timezone environment.
• Incident management experience and the ability to lead high-pressure situations calmly.

Required skills

• Cloud platforms (GCP preferred, AWS/Azure acceptable) including compute, networking, storage and managed services.
• Containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible).
• Observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK Stack or similar, and SLO/SLI definition.
• CI/CD pipelines, blue-green and canary deployments, and release engineering.
• Scripting in Python, Go or Java for automation and tooling.
