Senior Software Engineer (NGPO Strategy - Ecosystem Development)

About the role

The Next Generation Programme Office (NGPO) Strategy branch is looking for motivated software engineers with a collaborative, proactive attitude and a passion for continuous learning. You will join a team developing software solutions for the Next Generation Air Navigation System (ANS), with particular emphasis on Aeronautical Information services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain software for safety-critical applications, complying with industry standards for reliability, safety and performance.
• Code in a range of languages and tools (C++, Python, Java, Rust, GoLang, etc.) depending on project needs.
• Apply software safety and security best practices in coding, testing and development.
• Lead and mentor junior developers, coordinate deliverables and work with stakeholders and architects to design, implement and deploy systems.
• Develop test plans and test cases, take part in code reviews and static code analysis, and perform ICIT and system validation in production.
• Troubleshoot and debug performance, safety and reliability issues in development and production.
• Maintain documentation for code, processes and test results to meet compliance and audit requirements.

Required profile

• Training in Software Engineering, Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent.
• At least 6 years of professional software development experience in enterprise, mission-critical environments.
• Strong interest in software development and in learning new technologies.

Required skills

• Cloud-native patterns (microservices, Lambda and Kappa streams) and REST APIs; API Gateway knowledge is optional.
• Solace publisher/subscriber and event streaming.
• Kubernetes, Helm and Terraform, with AWS or Azure experience a plus.
• Multiple languages (Python, TypeScript, Java, Rust, C++, Go, React).
• CI/CD pipelines, Git, Docker, automated testing frameworks and TDD.
• High-availability, high-performance and real-time systems.

Appointments are commensurate with experience; successful candidates receive a 3-year contract initially, with possible permanent tenure or renewal.
