Senior Staff Nurse (Clinical Instructor)

About the role

The Senior Staff Nurse (Clinical Instructor) leads clinical education, patient safety and quality improvement initiatives on the ward. Working closely with senior educators and nurse managers, this role mentors junior staff, supports new graduates and ensures high‑quality, evidence‑based nursing care.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and evaluate orientation, in‑service and continuing education programmes for nursing staff.
• Provide clinical supervision, coaching and preceptorship to junior nurses, graduate nurses and nursing students.
• Guide safe patient admission, transfer, discharge and escalation of deteriorating patients in collaboration with inter‑professional teams.
• Participate in quality‑assurance, infection‑control and patient‑safety initiatives, reviewing incidents and implementing improvement actions.
• Support the integration of new staff, identify learning needs and address performance concerns.

Required profile

• Registered nurse with experience in clinical education, patient safety and quality improvement.
• Ability to supervise, coach and mentor junior staff and students.
• Strong communication skills to facilitate ward‑based learning and patient education.
