Senior Technician - GQ Operations, IE Modeling and Automation

About the role

Micron is hiring a Senior Technician for its GQ Operations team, covering IE modeling and automation support. The role supports lab automation tools, AMHS workflows and engineering data used for capacity planning and modeling.

Key responsibilities

• Support setup, trial, qualification and sustainment of automation tools such as Laser Mark, HAST ALU, Reflow Automation, AMHS/AMR/ARV, robotics, vision systems and related equipment.
• Assist engineers during installation, dry run, debug, FAT/SAT/PAC, UAT, qualification and release activities.
• Support automation tool pass-down and train the operation team.
• Perform routine checks, basic troubleshooting, recovery and escalation, and monitor performance, downtime, repeat issues and safety concerns.
• Support AMHS workflow testing, trial runs and operational readiness, verifying lot movement, tool status, material flow, load port readiness, carrier handling and system transactions.
• Record AMHS issues and follow up with engineers, IT, automation teams, equipment team, site-auto and ES on ground deployment, counter tray recipes, ARV/AGV and RMS readiness.
• Support IE modeling by collecting and maintaining data, validating planning assumptions against actual lab performance, and checking data accuracy for capacity planning, tool loading, productivity and ramp readiness.
• Prepare lots, trays, boards, carriers, fixtures and materials for automation trials, following SOP, OCAP, ESD, safety, 6S and quality requirements.
• Maintain checklists, issue logs, training records, troubleshooting guides and shift handover notes.

Required profile

• Diploma, NITEC or Higher NITEC in Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Automation, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in equipment operation, manufacturing, lab operations, maintenance support, automation support or data collection.
• Good teamwork, communication, ownership and willingness to learn.
• Preferred: semiconductor, reliability lab, backend, test or automation equipment experience; exposure to AMHS, AMR/ARV/AGV, MES/MAM, robotics, vision systems, laser marking, auto loaders/unloaders or equipment integration; understanding of reliability lab capacity and processes; experience with UAT, tool buyoff, qualification, vendor activities, KPI reporting or equipment release.

Required skills

• Basic computer skills, including Excel, manufacturing systems, dashboards or digital forms.
• Use of AI tools such as Copilot and LLMs to automate reporting, dashboards and workflow approvals.
