Senior Tunnel Engineer

About the role

The Senior Tunnel Engineer will lead and supervise bored tunnelling operations on major infrastructure projects. This role involves preparing technical documentation, ensuring safety compliance, and coordinating with subcontractors, authorities, and consultants to deliver tunnel works on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare method statements, safe work procedures, risk registers, and progress reports.
• Provide engineering supervision for bored tunnelling, including final ring and key selection.
• Present tunnelling plans prior to commencement and conduct daily site inspections.
• Supervise TBM operations, cutter‑head interventions, and cross‑passage construction.
• Maintain records of excavated volumes, grouting, and quality control.
• Plan and monitor site progress, manpower, and equipment deployment.
• Ensure job safety analysis, site safety compliance, and environmental controls.
• Coordinate subcontractors and liaise with authorities and consultants.
• Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Project Manager.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of tunnelling experience.
• Strong knowledge of local authority requirements and engineering standards.
• Ability to work 12‑hour shifts and start on short notice.
• Effective team player with leadership and multitasking capabilities.
