Senior Vessel Operator

About the role

The Senior Vessel Operator will oversee the full lifecycle of vessel voyages, ensuring efficient cargo handling, optimal bunkering, and accurate financial tracking. This role acts as the primary liaison between the commercial team, vessel crews, port agents, and other stakeholders to deliver seamless maritime operations.

Key responsibilities

• Issue voyage orders and maintain strong relationships with vessel commanders.
• Appoint and monitor performance of port agents, surveyors, and vendors.
• Optimize cargo intake, stowage plans, and bunkering strategies in collaboration with the bunker desk.
• Maintain data accuracy in the IMOS voyage management system and manage payment/invoicing instructions.
• Track voyage P&L, monitor vessel routes and performance, and resolve disputes or claims.
• Support process improvements and coach junior operators.
• Provide backup for the Vessel Operations Team Lead when absent.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of experience in time‑charter vessel operations.
• Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, or a related discipline.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Strong sense of ownership, ability to work under tight deadlines, and collaborative team attitude.
