Senior/Engineer, Metrology Process Development

About the role

Micron is looking for a Senior/Engineer in Metrology Process Development to lead R&D, operation and sustainment of advanced CDSEM metrology, with additional focus on AFM, overlay/registration, X-ray metrology and optical techniques. The role develops, qualifies and standardizes CD metrology methods for advanced nodes, works closely with process and integration teams, and mentors engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, qualify and standardize CD metrology methods to achieve best-in-class accuracy, precision and repeatability for advanced nodes.
• Drive inline detection strategies with process and integration teams to enable rapid learning cycles.
• Perform detailed CD, profile and roughness analysis to diagnose process issues and ensure robust pattern fidelity.
• Partner with design, process and integration teams to define metrology requirements and monitoring schemes.
• Generate high-impact metrology reports with data interpretation, root-cause analysis and actionable recommendations.
• Establish and advance CD metrology capabilities, including tool benchmarking, method innovation and workflow optimization.
• Mentor and coach engineers, and influence supplier tool and technology roadmaps aligned with Micron's scaling strategy.

Required profile

• MS/Ph.D. in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or a related field, plus 2+ years of industry experience (preferred).
• OR a BS degree plus 5 years of proven ability in the semiconductor field.
• 2 years of industry metrology experience working with CDSEM (preferred), optical thin films, overlay/registration, X-ray or AFM/wafer shape.
• Process and equipment experience in instrumentation and calibration procedures.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes (diffusion, CVD, etch, lithography) and device process flows.
• Excellent digital literacy including data science, AI and JMP.
• Preferred: strong data analysis skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently or in a team, and excellent communication and organizational skills.
