Senior/Staff Engineer, Global Chemical Coordinator
micron · Fab 10N/X
Job description
About the role
Micron's Global Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) team coordinates safe, responsible and compliant operations across its global manufacturing network. As Global Chemical Coordinator, you will lead the coordination of first-of-a-kind (FOAK) chemical setup processes, ensuring chemical information is complete, accurate and ready for site review and approval. The role complements existing site Chemical Coordinators and EHS approvers and reduces data-quality barriers, without replacing site-level technical review or approval authority.
Key responsibilities
- Support the global FOAK chemical review process and coordinate accurate, complete and traceable setup of new chemicals across CEDAR, SAP and associated workflows.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and suppliers to resolve data gaps, obtain required chemical and regulatory information and protect confidential information.
- Establish and run the Global Chemical Compliance Governance Council, identifying recurring data-quality, system, supplier and workflow issues.
- Use AI-enabled tools and analytics to improve chemical data quality, FOAK review efficiency and regulatory compliance decisions.
- Support development of automation and AI capabilities for chemical information management and supplier data collection.
- Recommend improvements to data standards, required fields, validation controls, ownership, training and workflow design.
- Maintain auditable documentation of decisions, data corrections, escalations and process exceptions.
- Participate in the SAP S/4HANA chemical-management transition and preserve site-level EHS approval authority.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Material Science, Environmental Health and Safety or a related technical field.
- Working knowledge of global chemical regulatory frameworks, hazard communication requirements and chemical compliance obligations.
- Experience evaluating chemical, regulatory, EHS or product stewardship data and turning requirements into system or process controls.
- Working knowledge of chemical hazards, CAS numbers, Safety Data Sheets and chemical composition.
- Ability to coordinate work across multiple functions, sites and regions; semiconductor background preferred.
- Experience with SAP or another enterprise-level chemical management system preferred.
Required skills
- Project management: scheduling, dependencies, deliverables and documentation.
- Experience with AI, automation, business intelligence or data analytics tools to improve compliance, EHS or operational processes.
- Strong written and verbal English, project management, facilitation and system-level thinking.
