Short Term Clinical Instructor - School of Health & Social Sciences

About the role

Nanyang Polytechnic is looking for Short-Term Clinical Instructors for its School of Health & Social Sciences. The instructor acts as a role model and mentor for nursing students, giving effective instruction, assessment and support during their clinical placements in hospital and community facilities, while stimulating interest in clinical practice and encouraging innovative approaches.

Key responsibilities

• Orient students to clinical sites, including working schedules, assessment methods and overall responsibilities.
• Ensure clinical placements meet the stipulated learning outcomes and give regular feedback to the Clinical Placement Provider to improve student experiences.
• Support faculty in developing the objectives and competencies for clinical skills logbooks and assessments, and assign activities aligned with them.
• Impart and enhance students' understanding of clinical issues, assess their competency and monitor progress.
• Act as the point of contact for clinical site managers and healthcare professionals, and report student concerns promptly.
• Prepare the weekly staff roster and submit weekly reports to the clinical manager.
• Maintain student confidentiality and carry out other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Relevant nursing qualifications.
• At least 3 years of clinical experience in acute health care settings.
• Valid RN license with the Singapore Nursing Board.
• Knowledge of current nursing skills, trends and issues.
• Teaching experience or qualification is an advantage.
