Site Reliability Engineer Intern

About the role

Tencent's Weixin Group (WXG) builds and operates the Weixin ecosystem, including Official Accounts, Mini Programs, Weixin Pay, WeCom and search, as well as QQ Mail and WeRead. As a Site Reliability Engineer intern, you will support the design, deployment and management of CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes deployments and microservices infrastructure, while helping maintain high availability, performance and operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and manage CI/CD pipelines for consistent software delivery to production.
• Administer, scale and optimize Kubernetes deployments for high availability and fault tolerance.
• Architect and maintain microservices infrastructure with efficient scaling and robust security.
• Implement monitoring solutions to detect system anomalies and performance bottlenecks proactively.
• Lead capacity planning and resource management, using pressure testing to tune system performance.
• Identify, troubleshoot and remediate issues affecting critical services to keep uptime high.
• Manage high-severity incidents with significant customer impact, coordinating with cross-functional teams.
• Help create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Develop automated operational tools and systems to reduce manual work.
• Collaborate with development, QA and business teams to align infrastructure and operations with organizational goals.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field.
• Experience in large-scale distributed environments; familiarity with distributed systems, including the CAP theorem and microservices.
• Strong sense of ownership, customer service and integrity.
• Fluency in both English and Mandarin to deal with international stakeholders and HQ-based colleagues.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with at least one programming language: Bash, Go or Python.
• Good command of Linux, including kernel, memory, processes, threads, libraries, IPC and signals.
• Understanding of HTTP, DNS, SSL, TCP/IP and ICMP.
• Container technology such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Zabbix.
