Software Engineer - Ad Technology

About the role

Rakuten's Global Ad Technology Department builds and manages a suite of advertising products and services, working across hubs in Japan, Singapore, India and China. It is hiring a Software Engineer to help design, develop and deploy high-performance, scalable and resilient advertising technology solutions. The role focuses on data processing, system performance and distributed architectures.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and deploy software features and components for core advertising platforms and services
• Write clean, maintainable and efficient code following engineering best practices
• Take part in technical discussions, code reviews and design sessions
• Troubleshoot and debug issues in development and production environments
• Work with product managers, QA engineers and other engineers to turn requirements into technical specifications
• Contribute to improving development processes, tools and engineering standards
• Learn and apply new technologies relevant to AdTech and distributed systems

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
• 3 to 5 years of software development experience focused on scalable, maintainable applications
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• Preferred: experience in AdTech, MarTech or e-commerce, and contributions to open-source projects

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one modern language such as Java, Scala, Go or Python
• Relational or NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, MongoDB)
• Version control (Git) and SDLC and Agile
• Preferred: distributed systems or microservices, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), big data tools (Kafka, Spark)
