Software Engineer II – Critical Email Products

About the role

Abnormal AI is redefining cybersecurity with an AI‑native platform that protects enterprises from advanced email attacks and account compromise. We are looking for a Software Engineer II, Backend Engineer to join the Critical Email Products (CEP) team in Singapore, building the capabilities that let customers replace legacy email gateways with our modern solution.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services that power the CEP product surface.
• Design and evolve event‑driven pipelines (Kafka consumers, Airflow DAGs) to process email traffic at enterprise scale.
• Work across a multi‑tenant, multi‑cloud deployment footprint supporting M365, Google Workspace, and FedRAMP environments.
• Leverage AI‑augmented development tools to explore solutions and deliver reliable production outcomes faster.
• Collaborate with product and cross‑functional partners to iterate quickly on features that move customers from legacy SEG to Abnormal.
• Contribute to service reliability, observability, and operational quality as the product surface expands.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Backend development experience with Python or Golang.
• Experience building scalable, enterprise‑grade applications.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong fundamentals in computer science, data structures, and performance optimization.

Required skills

• Familiarity with AI development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Claude.
• Experience with event‑driven systems like Kafka, SQS, or similar message‑queue/stream processing patterns.
• Understanding of email delivery pipelines and authentication standards (DMARC, DKIM, SPF).
• Exposure to multi‑tenant SaaS architectures and enterprise integrations (M365, Google Workspace APIs).
• Experience improving service reliability, observability, and operational tooling in production.
• Background in cybersecurity, email security, or compliance‑adjacent domains.
