Software Engineer (Java)

About the role

Capgemini is seeking a Java Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise‑grade applications within its AI‑powered global services portfolio. The role involves building robust, secure APIs and micro‑services that support end‑to‑end processing for financial and other mission‑critical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with subject‑matter experts to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Develop Java services (JDK 17+) and design secure, high‑performance APIs.
• Implement and maintain micro‑services using the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud).
• Work with event‑driven architectures leveraging Kafka.
• Handle multithreading, concurrency, and performance optimisation.
• Participate in code reviews, provide technical leadership and influence architectural decisions.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, security and audit standards.
• Provide L3 production support and maintain CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• 3–7 years of hands‑on backend development experience with Java.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and effective communication in an agile environment.

Required skills

• Java (JDK 17+) and Spring Boot / Spring Cloud.
• Microservices architecture and RESTful API design.
• Kafka or similar event‑streaming platforms.
• Multithreading, concurrency handling and performance tuning.
• Relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB).
• Containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Software design principles (SOLID, design patterns).
• Application security standards (OAuth2, JWT, encryption).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
